The AI stays
close to home.
Wittlet talks to AI running on your own computer. After the initial setup downloads, local chat can work without an internet connection. No account is needed to use the companion.
A graphics card is optional.
CPU-only chat is tested. Automatic mode chooses an AI that fits the memory available and lets the runtime use compatible graphics. You can also choose CPU-only in Preferences.

Wittlet can be wrong. It does not browse the web, read your other files, send emails, or control applications. File creation always goes through a review and an explicit Save.
Will we get along?
A Windows PC, a little breathing room, and an internet connection for setup.
Release acceptance is still in progress. A fresh app/runtime installation and CPU chat passed on the development PC, reusing its installed Python and AI service. Clean-Windows setup, missing-dependency installation and post-reboot behavior remain unverified; public downloads are not enabled.

CPU chat was tested on a Ryzen 7 7700. Entry-level hardware is a setup target, not a benchmarked performance promise. Available memory, context and response length affect speed. Integrated-graphics acceleration depends on driver/runtime support and is not guaranteed.

Run Install-Wittlet
The setup explains what it needs, installs missing dependencies, and prepares suitable local AI. Choose whether Wittlet starts with Windows.
Make it yours
Open Wittlet from the Start menu. Pick a character and color, resize it, and start a conversation. Quit can keep it quietly in the tray.

Wittlet for Windows is a release candidate. The app is built; clean-Windows installation and complete uninstall acceptance are still pending.

Know what you’re installing.
This is an unsigned setup bundle. Windows SmartScreen or your organization’s policy may warn about or block it. We don’t ask you to disable security protections, and we cannot promise a warning-free installation.
It includes readable source, pinned requirements and third-party notices. Dependencies and AI download during setup; they are not all inside the ZIP.

A few good questions.
Does Wittlet need a powerful gaming PC?
No. CPU-only chat works without a dedicated graphics card. Setup picks a suitable AI based on available resources. Larger AI and longer responses take more time and memory.
Where are the AI files?
They are internal files managed by the local AI runtime. Wittlet keeps the interface simple and calls the engine AI. The installer includes accurate third-party licensing notices.
Will closing it lose my conversation?
Keeping Wittlet in the tray preserves the current in-memory conversation. Quitting completely clears it. Your appearance and processing preferences are saved separately.
Can I uninstall it?
Yes. Use Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Wittlet. Its installed app files and owned shortcuts are removed. Personal preferences are preserved, along with Python, the AI service and shared AI files. Dependencies can be removed separately through Windows Apps when no other app needs them.
Can it speak, listen or run my computer?
Not in this release. Wittlet is a text-based companion with reviewed file proposals. It does not use your microphone, send emails, browse the web or control other apps.
